Notes:
This map follows the concept of the Woman's Suffrage maps, which had become widespread and effective by 1915. For the use of prohibition maps of this type generally, see Schulten 2021; see generally Subjects > Suffrage. This map - from the "wet" state of California - does not appear to advocate for or against prohibition; it simply identifies the wet and dry states and provides population statistics for the dry. Unlike a similar map (ID #1180, The March of Prohibition, 1915) it shows the dry states in black, perhaps suggesting they are "unenlightened." See ID #1176, The Awakening, 1915.
For a less-effective effort at the same kind of map, see ID #2026, Prohibition Map of the United States, 1910.
For other prohibition-related maps, see Subjects > Alcohol.
