- Notes:
- This chilling poster map details the horrors of Nazi war crimes in Poland. It shows the precise location of each camp, number of prisoners, execution camps as opposed to concentration and labor camps, mass tombs of Polish and Russian prisoners of war, large Jewish labor camps, the destruction of homes and villages and much more. The large skull and bones symbols mark the most infamous of the death camps, and the German Iron Crosses throughout the map show sites of executions and mass extermination. This map was prepared for the report of the Central Commission for the Investigation of Nazi Crimes in Poland, "Declaration On The Non-Applicability of Statutory Limitation to War Crimes and Crimes Against Humanity," 1968. While the specific location of the individual sites is obviously of vital significance for many reasons, the overall impact of the map transcends the geographic.
