- Description:
- This is a well-preserved cast of West II depicting two horsemen riding their horses to the viewer's left. Fig. 2 is nude except for the chlamys fastened around his neck and billowing out behind him. He twists his torso into an almost frontal pose to look behind him and turns his head into three-quarter view to the right (viewer's). His curly hair flows out from his head, suggesting quick movement. He lifts his left arm and bends it up and back towards his head, and holds his horse's reins in his right hand. His horse lifts its front feet to gallop. Fig. 3 wears a short chiton, anatomical cuirass, and boots and appears to lean back on his slightly rearing horse. He bends his arms to hold his horse's reins.
