- Notes:
- More than two years before the Normandy invasion, Look Magazine published this map to illustrate a morale-building article by Major George Fielding Eliot, "outstanding American military authority, war commentator for Columbia Broadcasting System." The map shows eight "most likely" invasion routes. Interestingly, Normandy is listed as one of these eight, simply as a possible "simultaneous" addendum to an invasion through Brittany.
