- Notes:
- This map appears in an unusual "Pictorial Atlas of the British Isles," published on the eve of World War II. What separates the maps in this work from many other charming cartoon maps of the period are the unusual borders of each map, filled with images of relevant people and physical items in silhouette. While many of the border images of this map are those of happy interactions among "Neighbours" (tennis, dancing, toasting, playing chess), others foreshadow the war to come: bombs, rifles and warplanes.
