- This is the cover of a student copybook ("Quaderno"), with about 80 blank pages. Date is estimated - probably shortly after Italy's successful occupation of Ethiopia in May 1936. The quote from Mussolini is "Italy finally has its own empire . . . I will fertilize it with our labor and will defend against anyone with our arms." He frequently used cartographic images in support of the actions of the fascist state. See Minor 1999. For similar images, see ID #2162.
Antonio Rigorini was a well known Italian artist, particularly active in commercial advertising and graphics in the 1930s and 1940s.
