Description:
Letter from Walter B. Garland to Geneva Rushin regarding what the boys got for Christmas, and telling her of plans to discuss with Charles why he hasn't been sending his sister Geneva money every week like he said he would. Also tells Geneva to ask Charles about sending money home to her for other siblings.
Notes:
Marked "COPY." Garland was active with a number of organizations including the IWO, the United Negro Allied Veterans Association. and the Ben Davis Club in Harlem.
The Jewish People’s Fraternal Order was the largest ‘national’ section of the International Workers Order (IWO) which focused on cultural awareness and celebration, mutual support especially in health insurance coverage, and anti-fascist activities. The IWO also gave particular emphasis to supporting the rights and interests of African Americans. Documents include language and representations which comprise the historical record and should not be interpreted to mean that Cornell University or its staff endorse or approve of negative representations or stereotypes presented.
