- Handwriting is difficult to read. Note above the letter says, "I have lost three fingers on my right hand and it is difficult to write." Complains of mistakes either in his name or his address. Long-term subscriber to the Morgn Freiheit (Frayhayt). Former address was 702[?] Battery Place. The letter includes a check donation for $72 towards $100,000 fundraising campaign. He is not a member of the Ordn. Wanted to donate it to the Hadassah children's fund (but he did not agree with their political program? Or wanted to do it via the Ordn?)
- Notes:
- The Jewish People’s Fraternal Order was the largest ‘national’ section of the International Workers Order (IWO) which focused on cultural awareness and celebration, mutual support especially in health insurance coverage, and anti-fascist activities. The IWO also gave particular emphasis to supporting the rights and interests of African Americans. Documents include language and representations which comprise the historical record and should not be interpreted to mean that Cornell University or its staff endorse or approve of negative representations or stereotypes presented.
