Postwar Order and Social Contract - Description:
- 2 pages. Ticket and program to the Jewish Music Festival on Sunday, March 2, 1947 at the Educational Alliance Settlement House in the Lower East Side. Proceeds to go to the Freedom Fund. Program is run by noted conductor and composer Richard J. Neumann who worked for the Educational Alliance. Program is billed as a young Jewish New York composers series where "each of these composers will also present songs related to Jewish life in addition to the chamber works indicated above.'
- Notes:
- The Jewish People’s Fraternal Order was the largest ‘national’ section of the International Workers Order (IWO) which focused on cultural awareness and celebration, mutual support especially in health insurance coverage, and anti-fascist activities. The IWO also gave particular emphasis to supporting the rights and interests of African Americans. Documents include language and representations which comprise the historical record and should not be interpreted to mean that Cornell University or its staff endorse or approve of negative representations or stereotypes presented.
