- 2 pages. Letter of appeal from R. Saltzman (on behalf of the National Executive Committee) to the American Jewish Conference Presidium, Judge Joseph M. Proskauer, Henry Monsky, and Dr. Stephen S. Wise. Asks for a reversal of the decision that the Jewish-American Section of the IWO is "non-sectarian" rather than a national Jewish organization. Letter alleges that despite participation in some local elections, the Jewish-American Section of the IWO was excluded from elections and from full national representation of delegates to the Conference's upcoming August convention. The letter rehearses the political "platform" of the Jewish-American Section of the IWO.
- Notes:
- The Jewish People’s Fraternal Order was the largest ‘national’ section of the International Workers Order (IWO) which focused on cultural awareness and celebration, mutual support especially in health insurance coverage, and anti-fascist activities. The IWO also gave particular emphasis to supporting the rights and interests of African Americans.
