This promotional broadside map, “Everlasting Copper From Anaconda,” is embossed in black on a paper-thin sheet of copper. It shows the state of Montana in outline, with a star marking the location of the company’s smelter at Anaconda, some 20 miles northwest of its large copper mine at Butte. There is an illustration of the smelter itself, with emphasis on its tall smokestack, “the Largest Stack in the World.” Superimposed on the smoke from the stack is the arrowhead trademark and slogan “from mine to consumer,” used by Anaconda in the 1920s and 1930s.
Based on copyright filings, this broadside likely dates to 1936 or shortly thereafter.
