- "In memory of James Edward Oliver A.M., member of the National Academy of Sciences, Professor of Mathematics at Cornell University 1873-1893. Born July 27, 1829. Died March 27, 1895. The trustees of this University remembering the Beauty of his character and the faithfulness with which his great gifts were here devoted to the work of instruction have erected this memorial." Sage Chapel.
