Cornell University Buildings
- Measurement:
- 1:200 (scale)
- Description:
- A map of Cornell Campus buildings and roads in the year 1929. Roads and footpaths are depicted as parallel lines and vary widths in accordance with real-world measurements. Streets are labeled with capitalized letters either on the inside or directly outside their parallel lines. A branch of the Lehigh Valley Railroad runs along the southern edge of campus, indicated as a solid line with perpendicular bars. The line crosses Cascadilla Creek and follows East Avenue north before crossing Fall Creek on the Northern edge, following Thurston Avenue. It then turns south to follow Stewart Avenue at the western extent of the map. Cascadilla Creek and Fall Creek are illustrated in blue ink at the southern and northern areas of the map, respectively, illustrated by concentric lines within their boundaries. Beebe Lake is similarly illustrated in the northern portion of the map, northeast of the central campus. The footprints of 186 university buildings, shaded in black, are drawn on the map. Some of the buildings, primarily residential, are labelled with their street number. An additional 22 proposed structures in the western area of campus relating to men’s dormitories are depicted with a shading of diagonal lines. University buildings are labelled with capitalized letters in the spaces directly outside the shaded footprints. The extent of map stretches from Thurston Avenue in the north to Dryden Road in the south, and Stewart Avenue in the west to Judd Falls Road on the far eastern side of campus, near agricultural instruction buildings.
