- Description:
- A map showing the campus of Cornell University in the year 1935. Roads and footpaths are depicted as parallel lines and vary widths in accordance with real-world measurements. Streets are labeled with capitalized letters either on the inside or directly outside their parallel lines. Cascadilla Creek and Fall Creek are traced on the southern and northern edges of central campus, respectively. Beebe Lake is similarly depicted to the northeast of the central campus. The creeks and other water features are shaded a light blue. The Cortland Branch of the Lehigh Valley Railroad forms a small arch on the southeast corner of the map, indicated as a solid line with perpendicular bars. An electric railway, similarly illustrated, crosses Cascadilla Creek at the southern edge of campus and follows East Avenue north before crossing Fall Creek on the Northern edge and continuing west on Thurston Avenue. The footprints of dozens of university buildings are shaded black and labelled with their name and the subject area of the courses and research held within. The cluster of men’s dormitories along the western edge of campus are labelled with a lettered key listing the names of the buildings. The village of Forest Home is labelled in the northeast corner of the map but no buildings are illustrated. The extent of the map stretches from Thurston Avenue in the north to Dryden Road in the south, and Stewart Avenue in the west to Judd Falls Road on the far eastern side of campus, near the agricultural instruction buildings.
