This is a view taken from the Washington Monument, looking south across the Tidal Basin at the Jefferson Memorial and the Potomac River. The view was likely taken close to the time when the Jefferson Monument was dedicated, in April, 1943 (on the 200th anniversary of Jefferson's birt h).
