- A. D. White noted the following on the mount under this image: "Bishop Pattison Pulpit (Memorial) showing martyrdom of St. Alban & Bp. Pattison." The inscription on the pulpit has given rise to the more common name of this piece of memorial sculpture: the Martyrs' Pulpit. The Martyrs ' Pulpit was added to the nave at Exeter Cathedral by Gilbert Scott in 1870.
