- An anchor windlass is a machine that raises and lowers a boat's anchor using a chain cable. Labels include speed control wheel, motor start and stop push button, mech. brake wheel, pump stroke spindle, variable stroke pump, constant speed electric motor, stroke and speed regulator, hydraulic pressure operated.
