Yiddish (Language) - Description:
- Chaim Zhitlowsky family letter to Zishe Weinper, YKUF Secretary, August 2, 1947 inquiring as to the publication of some of Chaim Zhitlowsky's writings, particularly books. The letter states that there was a verbal agreement that YKUF would edit and publish a Zhitlowsky annually. According to the letter, nothing apparently has transpired although the agreement was reached after protracted wrangling with YIVO over Zhitlowsky's will and wishes. The JPFO/IWO buried Zhitlowsky with full honors in their cemetery plot and named a lodge for him. Previous correspondence indicates that the family had asked Rubin Saltzman to intervene with Weinper. Rubin Saltzman was the General Secretary of the Jewish People's Order of the IWO (JPFO) and had arranged the 1943 wartime speaking tour where Zhitlowsky died mid-tour in Calgary, Canada.
